The Field Medic is essential to all forces of Centra.  A Gulldahnian Field Medic might use Etherium Infused bandages and crystal injectors; the Revaaran Medical Team might discuss the wounded Soldier while applying a foul-smelling poultice to ease their suffering and aid in the healing process.  Whatever their method or style the Field Medic is there to keep their allies alive and well. Or pick them up and put them back into the fight with a cheerful smile. Or put them on a stretcher and keep them alive enough to recover later far from the battle front.  Or shed a tear and close the eyes of a departed friend. Life in battle is short, brutal and bloody. Life as a Field Medic is bloodier still.

The Field Medic has at their disposal a Medical Bag full of the components, tools, equipment and devices, everything needed to stabilise the battlefield wounded.  Sometimes all it needs is cleaning up and a bandage and the Field Medic can easily deal with that. The Field Medic doesn’t have the time to tend to the more serious wounds, but can keep that person alive long enough to get back to the MTC where they can receive further treatment.  That’s why they employ Surgeons after all.

If you wish to play a specialist support class who can work in the field with their squad and in the Medical Triage Center attending to the wounded, this is the class for you.

For ease of reference the equipment list for the Field Medic is as follows:

Each Field Medic may carry one magazine pre-loaded with 12 shots before battle.  They may carry no further ammunition. They may wear light armour; carry a knife or equivalent up to 18” long; a short melee weapon up to 24” in length and/or a Pistol.  They may not carry a Short Bolt Rifle or Shield of any size. Any of these weapons may be used in either hand and “dual wielded” should the player wish to do so.

The Field Medic also has some specialist skills to call on:

STIM.

During a Skirmish or Sortie (But not a Front-line engagement), if the Field Medic reaches a player within 30 seconds of that player becoming Out of Action they may use the STIM call.

The targeted player is returned to the Current Battle with 1 Hit Remaining. They take no effect from Out of Action and do not need to go to Medical Triage - they require no further medical attention. If the player is reduced to Out of Action again, they cannot be subject to a further STIM call, but they can be EVAC’d as normal.

If the targeted player has passed the limit of 30 seconds of Out of Action, they are now more seriously wounded and are classed as Down and Out.

This skill is used in place of Evac during Skirmishes where Evac is not possible to allow them to get out under their own steam. Make sure that the Battle or Skirmish Ref clearly sees the use of this skill.

This call can be used as many times as is necessary within the Battle by the Field Medic.  There are no limits to the use of this skill other than that listed above. This can be key to saving people if the skirmish lacks an Evac potential or for a fighting retreat

Field Dressing.

Prior to the battle the Field Medic (with appropriate roleplay) can prepare

their tinctures, potions, etherium-laden bandages and other types of

medical equipment to be used in the Battle.  Five minutes of roleplay

allows the Field Medic to prepare One Field Dressing. If a Field Dressing

is used during a STIM call (as listed above) the chosen targeted player

will return to the battle with Three Hits.  A good dressing and the right

analgesic can make all the difference. When used on Fully functioning

character, it restores 3 lost hits. These restored hits are temporary, they

still need seeing to by the Medical triage after the battle to properly

heal them

A physrep of a Bandage is required for this piece of equipment, which

must by tied to the player on use. It takes as long to apply as it is to

SECURELY attatch the bandage, about 30 seconds is a good estimate

Field Dressing can be used on players who are Down and Out as above.

Clearly report this to the Ref when using this skill on a Down and Out player.

The Field Dressing is a One Shot Item and is discarded on use. Field Dressings can only be created within the Medical Traige Centre. The right tools for the right situation, the Medical Traige Centre is clean, sterile and the appropriate place to conduct this activity.  Dirty bandages kill people. You may only have 3 Field Dressings on your person during missions

The Field Medic can also support the Surgeon while in the Medical Triage Centre.  While not as effective, the Field Medic still has the knowledge to heal the wounded and can put that knowledge to good use.  If deciding to Heal a Wounded Player while in the MTC, follow the normal rules for Medical Treatment. However, the Field Medic may not change any bead-pull decision or improve the Wound Condition of a Player, as per the Surgeon Rules.  The MTC Ref will assist if any clarification is required. They may also choose to support a patient instead of attempt to heal, leaving it to the professionals. Whilst doing this, the patient's injury will not deteriorate, improving odds if there are lots of injured at once.
