Officers from either Faction are In Command. They stand out from the Rank and File, with their brighter coloured uniforms, sashes, emblems and banners. There could be a crestedhelmet on one side, a peaked hat or plume on the other. Even war-paint might show that a person is in command or in charge of their fellow troopers. From the lowly sergeant to the high ranking general, the Officer Class is designed to deliver orders where necessary and direct the army to where it’s needed. The chain of command must be respected. On the battlefield or in the campaign tent, the Officer will be making the decisions that affect the lives of those around them, utilising the skills and experience of the key members of their Command Staff. It’s not an easy job, but if you are there because you are the best person for the position in the Revaaran Ranks, or a local Baron in charge of your militia, it’s Your Job.
If you wish to play a character that relies on mobility and the protection of a shield, has lots of support abilities and relies on good roleplay to get the most out of, as well as having ultimate control of the Campaign Map, an Officer is the class for you.
For ease of reference the equipment list for the Officer is as follows:
The Officer may wear no armour but they may carry a large shield. For reference, the large shield is limited by the height of the player. No Officer may carry a shield that is larger than the distance from the floor to their waist, standing up. The shield may be smaller, but no larger than this. They may carry a knife or equivalent up to 18” long and a longer melee weapon up to 42” in length; they may carry a pre-loaded magazine of 7 rounds. They may also carry a pistol that is pre-loaded with 5 rounds of ammunition, but they are unable to carry any more ammunition that this.
PLEASE NOTE:
In TankLARP, the Officer class is a Restricted Class.
To play an Officer, you must form a group of at least 3 players. One of those players may play an Officer. This must be clearly defined on your character passport when presenting it to GOD. This represents the need for an Officer to support the group – if you have no group, you cannot play an Officer. If you decide to come back in as an Officer Character, you must have the permission of the Group you wish to Join as you will become one of their Officers and could effect those players In Game.

A Gulldahn Officer will start as the social rank of "Baron". A Revaaran Officer will start as the social rank of "Scion". Both of these portend to their social standing to become officers. Your military rank will generally be "Captain" or something similar

Rally the Troops

To promote good roleplay, the Officer will also be given skills relating to how well they lead their troops. Before the Battle or Skirmish the Officer will have the opportunity to “Rally the Troops” by the Ref. They will have a few minutes to roleplay speaking to their Unit before the encounter. This represents them giving a pep talk, stating how evil the enemy are, how just their cause, how great they are and how easy victory will be, etc. This will possibly give the players some skills to use in the coming encounter and the Ref will decide at that time what those skills will be and how many times they can be used depending upon how well the “Rally the Troops” is performed. Remember – This is the Officers’ Time to Shine! A poor leader will get poor results from their troops. Any Officer prior to the start of the Battle or Skirmish will be given the opportunity to “Rally The Troops” by the Ref. If there is more than one Officer present, the Senior Officer will Rally the Troops.

This is a list of the possible skills that may be given by the Ref to the Officer or Unit after “Rally the Troops” is completed. This is not comprehensive and fully up to the judgement of the referee in attendance. These only last for the upcoming engagement. You will be briefed enroute to any and all effects:

“Trooper X, It’s just a Flesh Wound!”
The Officer makes this call and points directly at the targeted player. If the Character called X has taken a HIT within the last 10 seconds, they may Ignore that Hit and it takes no effect. If this was their last HP, reducing the player to Zero HP, the call still works and the player continues at 1HP as though the Hit never happened.
“Rub Dirt on it, Trooper X!”
The Officer makes this call and points directly at the targeted player. The Call may be made on a Character (Friend or Foe) that is currently “Out of Action.” That Character may get back into the current action with One HIT remaining. This call must be made as per the Combat Rule for EVAC, however the vocal part is changed for that above and no EVAC is called.
“Rally On Me!”
The Officer makes this call in a clear loud voice. All currently “Out Of Action” Friendly Characters within 3 metres may get back into the current action with One Hit remaining.
“For the Empire, Charge!” or “For Victory, Charge!” (Any vocal that includes the word Charge at the end)
The Officer makes this call in a clear loud voice. For Ten Seconds the Next HIT can be Ignored for all friendly characters within earshot.
The following effects are handed out by the Ref prior to the Combat and last for the duration of that Battle or Skirmish.
“Shield Wall” During the next combat, any Lancer who heard the Officer “Rally the Troops” receives a Bonus HP
“Fire For Effect!” During the next combat, any Trooper who heard the “Rally the Troops” receives a Bonus HP.
“Boots on the Ground” During the next combat, any Soldier who heard the “Rally the Troops” receives a Bonus HP.
“We all need a Bandage” During the next combat, any Field Medic who heard the “Rally the Troops” receives a Bonus HP.
“You are Invincible!” During the next combat, ALL characters who heard the Officer “Rally the Troops” receive a Bonus HP. This includes the Officer.

As a tip: Mulitiple factors decide the outcome. Look like an officer. Be convincing. Give strategy details, co-ordinate with troops. Most importantly, be inspiring!

The War Table

Officers are in direct control of a unit on the War table. That unit, representing the Revaaran Fast Response Unit or Gulldahn Armoured Cavalry, lends support to Nearby armies, dictates what sorties your forces can be sent on and allows you to issue orders in the local area
-
Officers are expected to maintain a dialouge with the generals of the armies, coordinate their unit with the armies and collate intel about the war effort. Intel can be acquired through diplomacy, mission outcomes and the Chronicle. A message runner will occasionally drop by and will happily send any orders along to your unit, dialogue messages to the generals or messages elsewhere. You could even open diplomatic dialogue with foreign delegates, if you know who to send to.
-
Don’t expect to keep issuing a hundred orders in minute detail. There are only so many runners available and messages will come in on demand. Use the time the Message Runners are there to issue new orders based on the current War Table. If you want to make it easier on yourself, keep the Message Runner there while you are debating your decisions. The Runner will have a better idea of how to relay that message.
More detailed information about the War Table will be made available on the Campaign Day. This part of the game is very much Find Out In Play. Remember that Good Roleplay will be Rewarded.
